World Population Day fortnight launches in Ferozepur

Planning plays a very important role in the success of any undertaking; similarly family planning is very important for the good health and prosperity of a family, society and nation. With this expression of Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajinder Pal launched the population fortnight dedicated to World Population Day by issuing a health message to the district residents.

The theme for the year 2023 is “On the occasion of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, let us take a pledge to adopt family planning as a choice for happiness and prosperity.”It will be observed in two phases across the country, from June 27 to July 10 as mobilisation fortnight and from July 11 to July 24 as population stabilisation fortnight, with a focus on awareness of masses.

On this occasion, he said that keeping in mind the growing population, the department provides free family planning consultation and various types of birth control tools at all health centers. Continuing his message, he informed that it is very important to have a gap of at least three years between two children, which is important for the health of women and children.

Dr. Rajinder Pal further said that while the department provides free contraceptives, copper-t, chaya pill and intra-injection etc. to keep children healthy, permanent methods of family planning such as sterilization and tubal ligation are also provided free of cost. Cash incentives are also given to beneficiaries who adopt these permanent methods. He also appealed to all the district residents to adopt family planning.
