The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI/LR) Makhan Shah posted at Police Post Handiaya in Barnala district for accepting a bribe of Rs 5000.
An official spokesperson of the VB said that the accused police official has been arrested on the complaint of Satgur Singh, a resident of Khudi Kalan in Barnala district.
He further informed that the complainant complained to Police Station VB, Patiala Range that the accused ASI had demanded Rs 5000 as a bribe to get the court order implemented regarding common agriculture tubewell for equal distribution of water for irrigation.
After a preliminary investigation in the complaint, the spokesperson said that a VB team laid a trap and arrested the accused ASI while accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 from the complainant in the presence of an official witness.
In this regard, a case has been registered under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act against the ASI at Police Station VB, Patiala Range. Further investigation is under progress in the case.
