Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal has urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to review the advisory issued to state governments directing them not to process applications for Jathas seeking to visit Sri Nankana Sahib in Pakistan on the occasion of the upcoming Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in November.

Badal said denying permission to Sikh devotees who wish to pay homage at Sri Nankana Sahib would deeply hurt their religious sentiments.

“In the wake of the resumption of sporting ties between India and Pakistan, I also appeal for the reopening of the Kartarpur Corridor to facilitate pilgrims wishing to offer prayers at Sri Kartarpur Sahib,” Badal added.

The SAD chief emphasized that Sikh pilgrims have long cherished the opportunity to visit these sacred shrines, and called on the Centre to ensure smooth arrangements for the religious occasion.
