A spectacular finish of ECL 2024 Season 1 at the MYS International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur. An exciting final match of the Employees Cricket League Season-1 (6th April 2024 – 19th May 2024) organized by Punjab Secretariat Cricket Club, Chandigarh in association with Pritika Group of Industries and Mohali Auto Industries was played between GOMCO Patiala and Commissioner XI at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Mohali. Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, IAS, Secretary, Department of Home Affairs and Justice attended this mega event as the Chief Guest to celebrate the unforgettable memories of the tournament. Along with him, Gurinder Singh Sodhi, PCS, Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh and Sukhchain Singh Khaira, Chairman, Punjab Secretariat Staff Association also took time out of their busy schedule to attend the occasion.

Apart from these, the sponsors of the tournament, Harpreet Singh Nibber, MD, Pritika Group of Industries, Gaganpreet Singh, MD, Mohali Auto Industries and Dr. Rishi Mangat, MD, Heallthmaxx Superspeciality Hospital, Mohali was also present at the stadium to enjoy the exciting match.

In this match, Commissioner XI won the toss and batted first, giving a huge target of 218 runs to GOMCO Patiala. Opener Amit Parashar’s brilliant century (118) and Sherry Saini’s explosive cameo of 44 (11) was just treat to watch. Chasing 218 runs in reply, GOMCO Patiala team got off to a flying start and the team reached 120 runs with the loss of 3 wickets in just 10 overs. But with the fall of Sunny’s wicket in the twelth over, Commissioner XI got a chance to come back in the match.

After this, Captain Preetinder, Mohit and Pardeep tried hard to take the team to the target, but due to the brilliant bowling of the Commissioner XI bowlers in the last 5 overs, GOMCO Patiala team was all out for 201 in 19.5 overs. Thus, Commissioner XI won the ECL 2024 Season 1 final by 16 runs and clinched the title. Amit Parashar, who scored a magnificent century, was given the Man of the Match award. Sherry Saini was adjudged Player of the Series for his all-round performance with Bat and Ball in this tournament.

In the prize distribution ceremony, the Chief Guest congratulated Commissioner XI for winning and GOMCO Patiala team for putting up a good fight. While congratulating the Punjab Secretariat Cricket Club for organising the tournament in the best manner, the chief guest told the employees about the importance of sports in life and encouraged them to stay connected with sports. Club Patron Janak Singh, President Satish Chander and other management members thanked all the dignitaries and all the participating 12 teams and assured to continue organizing such tournaments future too.
