Senior BJP leader Raninder Singh has criticized the AAP government in Punjab for the hike in electricity tariffs.

“The AAP in one sweep has increased domestic and Industrial electricity tariffs at phenomenal rates and has shown its true anti-people stance,” said Raninder Singh senior BJP leader.

“In the recently concluded poll in Jalandhar, the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, and the entire AAP leadership had been harping that AAP was providing free electricity and it would streamline the bills further today in one sweep has announced an increase in power bills in the state.

The increase is not meagre and it would further create a huge burden on the common man. There is an increase of 70 paisa on the consumption of 100 units . While the previous tariff was 3.49 now it will be 4.19. More than 300 units the consumer will shell out a whopping 6.64 rupees a phenomenon increase of 80 paisa per unit. The previous tariff was 5.48,” he added.

“The AAP has taken the state for a ride and has no moral or social ethics as it has blatantly flouted every promise it made to the public. He said.

The common man is not in a position to pay such high power bills and this increase by the AAP government should be immediately withdrawn,” the leader added.
