SAS Nagar to explore Feasibility of City Bus Service to reduce pollution and traffic chaos on city roads, said, deputy commissioner, Ashika Jain while holding a meeting of District Road Safety Committee, here, today.

She said that the Electric Vehicles would be pressed into service to reduce pollution and save environment. Primarily, 10 routes would be covered and the survey is in progress. Besides, the deputy commissioner-cum-chairperson, the District Road Safety Committee, while reviewing status of black spots, directed the GMADA and National Highway to further reduce the number from 37 to zero. She said the earlier number of black spots was 80 and we are continuously working to reduce it to zero.

To ensure compliance with Safe School Vaahan by school vehicles, the District Child Protection Office and Regional Transport Authority officials were asked to initiate a special campaign after summer vacation.

Traffic wing of district police was asked to survey the intersection that need speed tables to minimize road accidents on Aero city road. The work of installation of speed tables would be done by the Municipal Corporation/National Highway.

Among the officers, present in the meeting, included, ADC (UD) Damanjit Singh, SDMs Sarabjit Kaur Mohali, Himanshu Gupta Dera Bassi, Secretary RTA , Pardeep Singh Dhillon.
