Mohali: Amid biting cold gripping Punjab, the weather department issued critical alerts for the coming days. While dense fog blanketed several areas today (January 21), a new Western Disturbance activates tonight, bringing major weather changes.

Today’s Conditions: Fog and Temperatures

Dense fog impacts seven major districts today: Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Patiala.
Amritsar logged the state’s lowest at 2.8°C, with visibility down to 50 meters there and 100 meters in Bathinda.

Yellow Alert: Rain and Gusty Winds

From January 21 night, expect shifts peaking Thursday (22) and Friday (23) with likely rainfall.
Statewide winds of 30-40 km/h, reaching 50 km/h in spots, accompany thunder and lightning. Northern districts like Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, and Jalandhar face light to moderate rain.
