Jones (name changed) – a 65 year old eminent lawyer from Toronto – was suffering from a recurrent brain stroke . He was investigated in Canada and advised a life saving surgery Carotid End Arterectomy (CEA) but given a long date .
His Canadian friend who had undergone bypass surgery from Dr Bedi earlier in Escorts Delhi referred him to India . After examination and investigation Dr Harinder Singh Bedi – Director of Cardio Vascular Sciences at Park Hospital Mohali – realised that Mr Jones was experiencing TIA (transient ischemic attacks) which are quite often the precursor of a major brain stroke. Dr Bedi has treated such cases at the St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney and in the Fortis Heart Mohali (where he was the first cardiac surgeon of the whole group) . He realised that Mr Jones could have a debilitating and potentially fatal stroke at any time . There was a severe block in the artery going to the brain from where multiple clots were shooting up.
