Punjab govt seeks time from HC to file reply on Amritpal’s case

Chandigarh, March 20

Punjab government sought time from Punjab and Haryana High Court to file their detailed reply on a habeas corpus petition seeking to produce Waris Punjab De chief, Amritpal Singh, before the court.

Notably, on Sunday, the Punjab and Haryana High Court bench of Justice NS Shekhawat had issued a notice to the Punjab government and the police in this regard.

Anu Pal, Senior DAG, Punjab, accepted the court notice on behalf of the respondents and prayed for time to file a detailed reply by way of an affidavit of the concerned Commissioner of Police on the date fixed before this Court, i.e. March 21.

The petitioner, Imaan Singh Khara, the legal advisor of Waris Punjab De, has alleged in his petition that Amritpal had been illegally detained by the police.
