Punjab Govt extends Rs.4 lac financial assistance to family of drowning victim in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, July 16

Jagdish Singh, 42 years, son of Veer Singh, a young man of village No Behram Sher Singh Wala of Guruharshai constituency, died yesterday due to his foot slipping and drowning while passing through a culvert with fast flowing water. Today, after his body was found, , the family members of the deceased performed his last rites in the presence of MLA Guruharsahai Sarari and Suraj Kumar, SDM.

Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman also expressed his grief on the tragic and untimely death of Jagdish Singh

He said that the district administration took immediate action as per the directions of CM Punjab and sent a check of Rs.4 lakh to the family of the deceased on behalf of the Punjab government. Fauja Singh Sarari and SDM Suraj Kumar reached the house of the deceased and handed over the cheque to his wife Bimala Rani and family members including father Vir Singh and mother Jito Bai.

On this occasion MLA Fauja Singh Sarari said that it is a very sad incident that an earning head of the family died yesterday due to drowning. He said that the Punjab government stands with the people of the state at all times.
