Punjab Governor approves two money bills after change of heart

Chandigarh, November 1

Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit has approved two money bills sent by Punjab Government to him after having a change of heart. Officials at Raj Bhawan have confirmed the development to Babushahi

Two bill which have been approved include The Punjab Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2023 and the Indian Stamp (Punjab Amendment) Bill 2023. Third bill The Punjab Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (Amendment) Bill 2023 is yet to be approved.

The first bill will pave way for setting up of a GST Appellate Tribunal and for imposition of GST on online gaming. The second bill seeks to impose stamp duty on the mortgaging of property in the state.
