Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, the President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee and Member of Parliament from Ludhiana, led a resolute protest today against the unholy alliance between the Narendra Modi-led BJP government and Indian billionaire Gautam Adani. The protest also highlighted the BJP government’s appalling silence over the ongoing violence and ethnic strife in Manipur, which has pushed the region into a state of unprecedented despair.

Speaking at the protest, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said, “The Modi-Adani collusion is the greatest betrayal of this nation. Public wealth has been looted to favor crony capitalists like Gautam Adani while the common man suffers. The U.S. indictment against Adani has revealed what India’s investigative agencies—controlled by the BJP—have deliberately hidden. This is nothing but a grand cover-up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to protect his closest ally. We demand immediate action, including a Joint Parliamentary Committee investigation into the Adani scam.”

“The recent indictment by federal prosecutors in Brooklyn against Gautam Adani and associates expose corruption, fraud, and money laundering, tarnishing India’s global image. The BJP government’s failure to ensure corporate accountability erodes investor confidence and threatens economic stability. Despite this, the Modi government obstructs parliamentary discussions, betraying public trust. The people deserve accountability, not silence or cover-ups,” said the PPCC Chief.

Warring shed light on the extent of the alleged scam, stating, “When no government was willing to bear the high costs of solar energy, Gautam Adani approached officials in Andhra Pradesh and offered a bribe of ₹25 lakh per megawatt. As a result, the Andhra Pradesh government agreed to procure 7,000 MW from SECI, amounting to a ₹1,750 crore bribe. Similar deals followed in Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, and Jammu & Kashmir, with a total of ₹2,238 crore in bribes paid. These schemes enabled Gautam Adani to secure a profit of ₹16,895 crore, leaving ordinary citizens to shoulder the burden of higher electricity costs.”

On the crisis in Manipur, Warring lashed out at the BJP government, stating, “While Manipur burns, Prime Minister Modi and his party continue to display shocking indifference. The Chief Minister of Manipur, who has utterly failed to restore peace, remains in power. This is nothing short of criminal negligence. The people of Manipur deserve justice, not a government that dances at Ambani weddings while ignoring the cries of the helpless.”

MLA Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa remarked, “The revelations against Adani are not just about one individual’s corruption; they are a mirror to the BJP’s style of governance—where public money is siphoned off to enrich a chosen few. This is an attack on every honest taxpayer of this country.”

Former MLA Hardial Singh Kamboj added, “India’s institutions, like SEBI, ED, and CBI, which were once pillars of justice, have now become tools of suppression under BJP’s control. Their failure to act against Adani despite overwhelming evidence is a disgrace.”

Punjab Congress Co-Incharge Alok Sharma ji said, “The Adani-Modi nexus has not only drained the common man’s pockets through inflated electricity prices and over-invoicing but has also made India a laughingstock internationally. This is a direct consequence of the BJP’s corrupt regime.”

The PPCC Chief concluded by saying – “Punjab Congress stands united in demanding accountability. The BJP government must answer why Indian agencies have ignored evidence provided by the FBI. Why is there no action against Gautam Adani? Why does the Prime Minister continue to shield him? The people of India deserve transparency and justice!”

Following the impassioned speeches, the Punjab Congress leadership, along with hundreds of supporters, marched peacefully towards Punjab Raj Bhawan to demand accountability from the BJP government. However, their democratic right to protest was met with brute force as the police intervened, detaining the leaders and supporters.

The protest was also attended by scores of other Congress party leaders including Balbir Singh Sidhu ji, Rana KP Singh ji, Kuljit Singh Nagra ji, Ravindra Uttam Rao Dalvi ji, Kuldeep Singh Vaid ji, Harminder Singh Gill ji, Bhagwantpal Singh Sachar ji, Harinderpal Singh Harry Mann ji, Vijay Sharma Tinku ji, Gursharan Kaur Randhawa ji, Malvika Sood ji, Mohit Mohindra ji, and Isherpreet Singh Sidhu ji.
