In preparation for the upcoming Air Show scheduled on September 26, 2025, at Air Force Station Chandigarh, District Magistrate Komal Mittal has imposed prohibitory orders to ensure a safe flying environment in SAS Nagar district.
Exercising powers under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, the order prohibits feeding pigeons or other birds within the airport premises and in areas up to a 10-km radius. Public awareness drives will be launched to discourage such practices. Unauthorized meat shops operating near the airfield will also be shut down.
Local residents, vendors, and organizations have been instructed to avoid activities that attract birds in the vicinity of the airport. Municipal bodies have been directed to ensure proper garbage disposal as per Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The District Magistrate warned that any violation of these orders will invite legal action. The restrictions will remain in force until September 27, 2025.
The orders will not apply to law enforcement agencies, paramilitary forces, Air Force personnel, SPG, or other officials authorized by competent authorities.
