The General Body meeting of PAU Retirees’ Welfare Association was held today in the Students’ Home, PAU under the Presidentship of Jila Ram Bansal in which the senior/junior cases due to which the payment of Rs. 25-30 lakhs to many retired employees like gratuity, pension commutation etc., are reportedly on hold
“Payment of LTA due in July 23 is being delayed for more than 3 months. Pension is usually delayed. Pension for the month of September paid in October has not paid till today. Even medical bills decided to be paid within 3 weeks are delayed for year. State Bank of India PAU keeps standing the retirees for hours together in queues for payment due to inadequate arrangement of payment counters. One more payment counter is needed in SBI branch,” stated General Body meeting of PAU Retirees’ Welfare Association.
“Old people who got their passbook printed from printing machine installed in E-Lobby now suffer as the Pass Book Printing Machine from E-Lobby has been withdrawn. SBI, PAU has no telephonic facility for the queries of its customers especially who are residing at outstations,” it added.
The association expressed strong anger about these demands by showing banners. The meeting was covered by print media and Fastway local channel. The President also said that if the authorities do not look into the matter, then this protest will be intensified.
As decided by the members unanimously by raising their hands that if these issues are not resolved, we will make a peaceful democratic Protest March in the campus and proceed towards Thapar Hall on 9th November 2023.
The Deputy Controller LA and its staff is assigned duties of various external offices i.e. Electricity Board or Municipal Corporation etc., so they attend only 2 days in PAU instead of 5 days, resulting in delay in payments to pensioners.
The existing audit staff on duty is also not attending their duty for the last 15 days due to which all the university work is held up. The university administration is also not caring about the absence of Audit staff so full-time and regular Audit Staff is required.
