Like previous years, this year too, the marriage of 13 poor girls from needy families was solemnized, when Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, MLAs Rajnish Dahiya and Naresh Kataria were also present, to bless the newly wedded couples.
In his address on this occasion, Sandhwan said, the Punjab government led by Bhagwant Singh Maan is making full efforts to maintain mutual brotherhood and peace in addition to the progress and development of the state. He said that no one will be allowed to spoil the environment of Punjab.
Condemning the incident in Ajnala in strong terms, he said that the Punjab police force deserves appreciation for maintaining the dignity and respect of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. However, no one will be allowed to push Punjab into darkness and full dignity and respect of every religion will be maintained in the state.
Appreciating the public welfare projects undertaken by the Naujavan Lok Bhalai Sabha, for the marriage of 13 girls, he announced the grant of Rs.51,000 from his discretionary funds.
Naresh Kataria and Rajnish Dahiya, MLAs congratulated the youths for their yeoman’s work and announced financial assistance of Rs.31,000 and wished them a happy married life.
During this time, singer Dalvinder Dayalpuri and many other artists entertained the audience with their traditional songs.
