NIPER Mohali celebrates I-Day with great fervor and enthusiasm

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), S A S Nagar, celebrated 78th Independence Day with great fervor and enthusiasm. Prof Dulal Panda, Director, NIPER, hoisted the National Flag followed by recitation of the National Anthem. In his institutional address, Prof. Panda congratulated all Niperians and he welcomed the new batch of Masters and PhD students on their first celebration in the Institute.

Prof. Panda mentioned that August 15 is a day of honor and pride for every Indian and therefore, he told to join hands together and bow in front of all those heroes who had bravely fought to gift a generation full of freedom. He said that NIPER had overwhelmingly participated in past two-year campaigns of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and this year too it is witnessing immense NIPERIAN’s participation.

He mentioned that the official theme for India’s 78th Independence Day 2024 is “Viksit Bharat” which reflects the government’s ambition to transform India into a developed nation by 2047. He said that in the pharma-world, our responsibility has increased manifold to generate skilled manpower who are equipped to take diverse challenges of the Pharma industry. The students trained at NIPERs are responsible for the proliferation of fundamental knowledge across the country and leading India towards “Atmanirbhar Bharat”. He also informed that NIPER SAS Nagar had been allocated a budget of 100 crores by government for the establishment of Center of Excellence on Antibacterial and Antiviral research.

He told a conscious effort has been made to introduce structural changes in NIPER’s research mandate by adopting approaches based on synthetic biology, proteomics and genomics, nano-science, drug development, medical devices and newer technologies driven by innovation globally for its research programs. He highlighted the progress/achievements of different sections of the institute. He briefed about the achievements of the institute e.g. QS World University Rankings, NIRF Ranking, publications, patents, 40% faculty members being in the list of Top 2% Scientists as published by Stanford University and receiving of prestigious professional recognition and awards globally by faculty and students of the Institute. He congratulated them all.

He informed that the placements were exceptional 102 reputed companies visited campus and ~90 % students were placed average salary package has been Rs. 6.66 lakh, with the highest package being Rs. 27.83 lakh till date.

He also told about the signing of MoUs with industry and academia for research collaboration.

He further apprised about the Administrative Activities which include implementation of Citizens’ Charter which is considered as a part of good governance and in order to promote transparency, accountability and citizen-centric governance. There are provisions of monitoring and grievance redressal mechanism. All the functionaries are expected to adhere to time line strictly as specified in the Citizen Charter.

He also mentioned about signing of MOU with “YourDOST”, – for providing support 24x7x365 days on emotional wellness and career counselling. He also mentioned about the starting of OPD services at Dispensary of the Institute and availability of routine medicines and first aid treatment.

He told that keeping in view the requirement of new faculty, increase in student intake etc, the Institute has entered into an MoU with Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for upgradation of institutional infrastructure.

It was followed by the cultural programme where the children of the employees and students presented colourful programmes under the theme of patriotism. The ceremony ended with the distribution of sweets to all the attendees.
