Former Punjab Congress President Navjot Sidhu will address media outside Patiala Jail after his release.
Punjab Congress leader and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has been in Punjab’s Patiala jail since May 20, 2022, after the Supreme Court convicted him in the 1988 road rage case imposing a one-year jail term, is set to be released on Saturday.
“Will address the media outside patiala jail around noon,” read the latest tweet posted by Sidhu’s social media team on his Twitter handle.

Meanwhile, fissures within the Congress have come to the fore with the faction close to “certain senior leaders of the party” staying away from the welcome planned for Sidhu.
While the Patiala District Congress Committee has not made any arrangements, former district Congress president Narinderpal Lally is leading local workers to welcome Sidhu.
Jail superintendent Manjit Singh Tiwana said the documents pertaining to Sidhu’s release are being completed. The process will be completed in a couple of hours. “The paperwork is complete and legal aspects are being verified. It will take a few hours before he is released,” he said.
