One motorcyclist washed away in the flood waters of Sutlej river near shahkot while rescuing his motorcycle from the flooded Chitti rivulet according to police.

Police identified the deceased as Harshdeep Singh (24) resident of Shahkot but his body has not been recovered while his motorcycle recovered at some distance.
Meanwhile Dhussi Bund near Mandala falling in Shahkot area breached nearly 100 feet and flood waters of Sutluj river has affected more two dozen villages in Kapurthala and Jalandhar districts according to district authorities. Paddy crops sown over more than twenty thousand acres of land have been submerged into 3to 4 feet of flood waters.
The flood waters have even entered the houses of more than one dozen villages falling inside the mand areas.
Renowned Environmentalist Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal and Punjab Local Bodies Minister Balkar Singh visited the flood affected villages and Seechewal followers evacuated more than 50 villagers mostly women and children with the help of his two motorboats from the flood marooned village Dhaka Basti falling in Lohian.The operation was still continuing to rescue the villagers from the flood marooned villages.
Seechewal and his followers today started plugging the 100 feet wide breach with help of sand filled plastic bags and Seechewal was personally supervising the operation . Meanwhile Kapurthala Deputy Commissioner Karnail Singh and Sultanpurlodhi SDM Chandrajyoti visited 14 flood affected villages falling in the mand area of Sultanpurlodhi . DC appealed the flood victims to take shelter in the eight camps set up by the administration .
The flood affected villages are Takia,Mand indepur,Bharoana,Ahlikalan,Ahlikhurd,Chandanwindi, Wattan walia,Sheikh manga,Sherpur sada, Sarupwala,Shahwala and mand Andrisa.
DC requisitioned the services of Army and NDRF teams to rescue the marooned villagers from the mand areas .
