Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora and Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain on Tuesday visited Sasrali Colony village to assess the situation at Dhussi Bandh.
After inspecting the Dhussi Bandh, the Minister and DC talked with local residents, assuring them that the river water is well below the bandh’s level. They emphasized that strengthening efforts are underway on a war footing to fortify the structure. The district administration has deployed comprehensive measures to mitigate flood risks and ensure resident safety, including a stockpile of one lakh sandbags and substantial stone supplies sourced from Ropar and Himachal Pradesh.
The dedicated teams from multiple departments are stationed at critical points along the bandh in Ludhiana, maintaining round-the-clock monitoring to manage the situation which is under control. They addef that to support affected farmers, the administration has ordered a thorough assessment of crop losses, with a commitment to provide full compensation once the situation stabilizes.
Further seeking divine blessings for Ludhiana’s safety, Minister Arora and Deputy Commissioner Jain paid obeisance to Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji near the Sutlej River in Sasrali village. They also commended the village panchayat and Youth Club for their active collaboration with the administration’s efforts. They also urged residents to remain calm and cooperate, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding lives and livelihoods.
