Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer handed over a cheque of Rs. 5 lahks to athlete Akshdeep Singh for his preparation for the Paris Olympics. Akshdeep Singh qualified for the Olympic Games, Asian Games, and World Championships with a new national record in 20 km walk at Ranchi.
The Sports Minister met Akshdeep Singh here at his residence in Chandigarh and handed over the cheque in his honor. Meet Hayer said that the first Indian athlete who qualified for the Paris Olympic Games-2024, Akshdeep was honored on the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Chief Minister’s view was that besides awarding the athlete winning the medal, it is more important to give him a cash prize for preparing for the games.
The Sports Minister assured Akshdeep Singh of all kinds of help from the Punjab Government and said that the Bhagwant Mann government will leave no stone unturned to give pride to the sportsmen.
