2024: A state-level road safety awareness program and cycle rally was organized at Mai Bhago Nursing College, Tarn Taran by the lead agency of Punjab State Road Safety Council under the chairmanship of Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar.
Transport Secretary Dilraj Singh Sandhawalia IAS, ADGP Traffic Amandeep Singh Rai, Director Journal Lead Agency R. Venkatratnam and co-director Des Raj Kamboj made a special appearance.
Expressing concern over the increase in road accidents, the Transport Minister and other distinguished guests appealed to everyone to strictly follow the road safety rules and directed all the responsible departments to take this important task seriously in the times to come. .
Deepak Sharma of Mayank Foundation was invited as the keynote speaker to address the students and school bus drivers on the occasion. Sharma said in his statement that we get guards installed when we buy mobile phones so that the phone does not get scratched due to falling, but we are careless in protecting our heads. Cycle helmets were also distributed by the Foundation to some students to create awareness under the ‘Wear Helmet Campaign’.
Transport Minister Bhullar thanked Mayank Foundation for continuously running road safety awareness campaigns and honored its founder Deepak Sharma for his dedicated work.
