Jasvir Singh Jassi, the man who was arrested by the Punjab Police for committing sacrilege at a gurdwara in Morinda, died on Monday. According to the police sources, Jassi was complaining of chest pain and breathlessness before he was shifted to a government hospital.
Jasvir Singh was arrested on April 24 after a video went viral, showing him entering the sanctum sanctorum of Gurdwara Kotwali Sahib in Rupnagar district’s Morinda, hitting the two granthis (priests) and desecrating Sikh religious text the Guru Granth Sahib.
