Kapurthala police today seized 6 kilo heroin valuing rupees several crores in international market from the Subhanpur area falling under Bholath subdivision and arrested five smugglers.
This was disclosed by Senior Superintendent of police Rajpal Singh Sandhu in a press conference at Subhanpur police station here this evening.
Police also impounded two cars carrying this consignment and a drug money of rupees 7 lakh .of the five arrested the smugglers two belonged to Delhi who had supplied the drugs to them.
Narrating the details ,Sandhu said that the police on a tip off regarding supply of heroin and exchange of drug money near Ramidi Bridge and nabbed them and also impounded their two cars .police identified accused as Kashmir Singh of village Dogranwala, Swaran Singh alias Chapar of Villa Kothi, Amandeep Singh of Dyalpur, Rahul and Atul, both brothers, residing at Patel Garden, Dwarka Mor, New Delhi. SSP disclosed that the police team had seized 2 kg heroin and Rs One lakh as drug money from Kashmir Singh and swift car PB-09-AK-1703. Similarly, 2 kg heroin was recovered from Swaran Singh alias Chapar, one kg from Amandeep Singh besides one kg and Rs. 6 from Atul. He mentioned that the TATA Hexa car number HR-26-DD-2984 being used by Rahul and Atul both brothers of Delhi were in business of drugs for past few years .
Giving further details, SSP Rajpal Singh Sandhu said that the entire operation was supervised by SP (Investigation) Ramninder Singh, DSP (D) Gurmeet Singh and CIA Inspector Jarnail Singh. He pointed out that Sukhdev Singh alias Sebi of Dogranwala was the main-kingpin, who supplied heroin in the area after being brought from New Delhi. Rahul and Atul were in Subhanpur to hand over the supply, said the SSP and the arrest of main-kingpin Sukhdev Singh alias Sebi, would also be behind bars soon. A case under section 21(C), & 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered in Subhanpur police station.
SSP disclosed that one of notorious smuggler arrested by police was in illegal business of drugs for past more than 20 years and was recently released from jail after spending more than 9 years in jail under NDPS act adding his property has already been attached by police and was facing trial in 22 criminal cases under NDPS act registered against him .
