History of Punjab should be made a part of the country’s school curriculum: Harjot Bains

The history of Punjab is replete with the stories of Martyrs, Gurus, and Saints freedom fighters and its culture is very rich. This was revealed today by Harjot Singh Bains during the online meeting of the 58th General Council of the National Education and Research Council of the Government of India.

Speaking on this occasion, Bains appealed to the Union Minister of State for Education Annapurna that the history of Punjab should be made a part of the school curriculum of the country so that the students can develop true devotion to the country and a sense of mutual harmony.

Bains said that Punjab has been a pioneer State of the country in every field and has bravely resisted the attacks of many envadors as it is an entry gate to India.

He said that the history of Punjab is a pivotal place in the history of India and it is very important to teach this to the students of nation. He appealed to the central minister to make it a part of the national curriculum.

During the meeting, Bains raised an important issue about the setting up of regional education institute for the state of Punjab.

He said that the National Council of Education and Research had given its approval in the year of 2017 for the establishment of regional education institute for the state of Punjab. Acting on this, the Punjab government had identify the required land in Rupnagar district to build a campus of the institute.
