University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh, one of the region’s top B-schools which is dedicated to providing top-notch education in the field of management sciences, organized it’s Golden Jubilee, Silver Jubilee & Decade celebration Alumni Meet on Sunday, 14th December 2025 under the chairmanship of Prof. Parmjit Kaur with the coordination of Prof. Rupinder Bir Kaur Kaur, the faculty co-ordinator of Alumni Relations, UBS, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The meet was held at two venues, i.e., Law Auditorium (Arts Block-IV) and University Business School (Arts Block III), Panjab University. The event was commenced with an inaugural address by Chief Guest Shri Diprava Lakra, IAS, Finance Secretary, Chandigarh UT, followed by the presidential address by Prof. Yojna Rawat, DUI, Panjab University. The occasion was further graced by Mr. Chetan Khanna, Chief Human Resources Officer, Kale Logistics Solutions, and Mr. Sukeerat Singh Gill, Assistant Vice President and Head of HR, Airtel as Guests of Honour. Eminent alumni leaders, including Mr. Kuldeep Kaul, Founding Member of the UBS Alumni Association, and Mr. Anurag Aggarwal, President of the Association also graced the occasion and shared their insights and experiences. The function was also graced by revered faculties of UBS, namely Prof. S.C. Vaidya, Prof. Prof. A.K. Vashisht and Prof. Meenakshi Malhotra.
The program started off with the warm welcome of the Chief Guest, other dignitaries, alumni of Golden Jubilee batch of 1975, Silver Jubilee batch of 2000 and special invited young alumni of batch 2015 by Prof. Parmjit Kaur, Chairperson and Prof. Rupinder Bir Kaur, the faculty co-ordinator of Alumni Relations, UBS.
Prof. Parmjit Kaur, Chairperson, UBS welcomed all the esteemed dignitaries, revered and current faculty of UBS and all alumni, and appreciated their zeal to assemble for the meet despite their busy schedules. She briefed about the strong foundations of the UBS and the importance of such a gathering every year where she stated, “Strong alumni meet is a key to the institution’s progress and excellence.” Alumni Meets allow us to reconnect with many of our cherished alumni after a long time and bring life to the campus and we proudly acknowledge that the success of this family is possible because our alumni never forget their roots. We are thankful to our Alumni whose continued contributions—whether towards infrastructural enhancement, final placements, summer internships, guest lectures, service as the VC nominees in the admission process, or participation as external examiners—play a pivotal role in ensuring the enduring growth and stability of UBS.
She highlighted the remarkable progress of the department, noting that UBS has consistently strengthened its academic and industry engagement initiatives. In 2023, UBS successfully organized a 4-day Management Conclave and a 5-day panel discussion series, ‘Veritaz 2.0’, in 2024, panel discussions featuring 10 dynamic panels and over 50 eminent business leaders who engaged in stimulating discussions on emerging business trends. This year, UBS once again reinforced its legacy of excellence by concluding a four-day panel discussion event, ‘Unleashing Business Synergy’, which witnessed the enthusiastic participation of more than 40 distinguished alumni. She further shared that UBS proudly hosts its International Conference annually, with the upcoming edition scheduled for March 2026.
Expressing immense pride, she also announced the commencement of the new MBA program in Business Data Analytics, introduced for the first time this academic year—an important step towards aligning UBS with the evolving needs of the global business environment.
This was followed by an inspiring speech by Chief Guest Shri Diprava, IAS, Finance Secretary, Chandigarh UT, shared valuable insights into the evolving dynamics of the contemporary business world and motivated students to view alumni as role models while building strong professional networks. He acknowledged the rich legacy and contributions of Panjab University, Chandigarh, as a driving force behind institutional growth and learning. he emphasized that true management learning is rooted not merely in rules, but in resilience and lifelong lessons.
In her presidential address, Prof. Yojna Rawat, Dean of University Instructions, Panjab University congratulated the department on its achievements and highlighted the importance of academic excellence and institutional values. Emphasizing holistic development, she encouraged students to pursue learning beyond classrooms. Her address served as a strong source of motivation and inspiration for the students.
Our guest of honour, Mr. Chetan Khanna, Chief Human Resources Officer, Kale Logistics Solutions our alumnus of the 2001 batch, shared valuable insights on AI automation. He emphasized that institutions like Panjab University, Chandigarh, attain greatness not merely through infrastructure or rankings, but through the values, ethics, discipline, and life lessons they instill. With practical clarity, he highlighted the leadership skills, mindset, and sense of responsibility essential for shaping future leaders.
Mr. Sukeerat Singh Gill, Assistant Vice President, Airtel, and Guest of Honour, reflected on his return to the UBS campus as a deeply emotional experience enriched with lasting memories, friendships, and life-shaping moments. He emphasized that UBS nurtures resilience, enabling students to overcome challenges, emerge stronger, and consistently perform at their best. Highlighting the institution’s enduring legacy, he noted that UBS alumni are widely respected across organizations for their values and leadership. In conclusion, he encouraged students to start with humility, gain hands-on experience, and uphold the UBS legacy with pride and responsibility.
The event was graced by around 200 alumni, spread across globe and holding top-notch positions that vary from country managers to Presidents in various esteemed multinational conglomerates, government organizations, PSUs, academic institutions and have also been recognized as emerging entrepreneurs at the global front. The list of alumni included well-known personalities from the corporate world and myriad fields of management, who graced the event by sharing their valuable experiences.
The UBS took the opportunity to felicitate and honor the Dignitaries, revered faculty and the alumni of batches 1975, 2000 and 2015. The alumni turned nostalgic to the clippings as they walked down the memory lane and appreciated with a thunderous applause. A special vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Rupinder Bir Kaur.
After that the splendorous cultural performances added grace to the occasion. The event concluded with a delightful lunch and high tea before bidding farewell to the alumni. Everyone bade farewell to each other and their beloved Alma Mater, University Business School with a promise to meet again and with a conviction to contribute back to the institute through regular webinars, research and academic partnerships.
