Following smuggling network bust using e-money from Central jail, more mobiles seized from gangster, under trial prisoners

Following the busting of a smuggling network, using digital money or e-money at Central Jail by the Counter Intelligence, more mobiles, charger, adopter, data cables have been seized during the search operation from gangster prisoners and under trial prisoners.

Smuggling network was being run by three prisoners with the help of wives of two inmate’s for making and receiving payments through UPI mobile app and transaction of Rs.1.13 crore was detected after the arrest of one of the prisoner Raj Kumar’s wife Neeru Bala.

Frequent recovery of mobiles along with other banned items from inside the jail and running of smuggling networks, has put a question mark on the inside and outside security of the jail premises. The purpose of keeping the prisoners behind the bar away from the outer world as punishment is also lost, either unintentionally or with the connivance of the staff with the recovery of banned items.
