Floods devastated total of 1473 villages of Punjab: More than 27K people evacuated to safe places

As per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the State Government machinery has been working round the clock in flood affected areas. The situation has improved in most of the areas but some places are still under the floods.

According to the records of the revenue department, a total of 1473 villages in the state have been affected by floods so far. Among them, 458 villages of Patiala, 268 villages of SAS Nagar, 364 villages of Rupnagar, 30 Moga, 41 Hoshiarpur, 28 Ludhiana, 32 Sangrur, 92 Ferozepur, 13 Kapurthala, 77 Jalandhar, 20 SBS Nagar, 22 Fazilka, 21 Mansa and 7 villages of Gurdaspur district have been affected by floods.

27286 persons have been evacuated and taken to safe places till date. An official spokesperson informed that a total of 159 relief camps are running in the state, in which 1319 people are staying. Maximum 484 people are staying in the relief camps of Mansa district.

He further informed that dry food packets are also being distributed to the people in the flood affected areas. Total 19 districts have affected/are suffering from floods including Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Kapurthala, Patiala, Moga, Ludhiana, SAS. Nagar, Jalandhar, Sangrur, SBS. Nagar, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Mansa, Pathankot and Bathinda.
