Eco Club in Ferozepur runs Green Campaign to promote healthy environment

Ferozepur, July 19

To promote green cover in the surroundings, the Eco Club at Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Sahibzada Sant Singh, being run under Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) at Zira sub division of Ferozepur, planted saplings of various varieties in the ongoing monsoon season.

In- charge of Eco Club, Sukhbir Kaur, Science Teacher, led the green campaign and apprised the students about various varieties of trees which not only add to the aesthetic looks of the surroundings but they also promote a healthy environment. She held a discussion session on reducing carbon emissions to save the environment and motivated the students to carry the green campaign in their respective localities too. The school parks were also cleaned by the teachers and the students.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the school Rama Mehta dwelt upon the collective efforts required at a mass level to add green cover in the country. She also said that trees play a big part in controlling soil erosion during heavy rains and flash floods. The students also pledged to reduce the use of plastic bags.
