In the wake of the devastating floods and landslides across Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir, thousands of families have been displaced and left struggling to rebuild their lives. Recognizing the enormous hardship faced by students and parents in these calamity-hit regions, Desh Bhagat University (DBU), a NAAC A+ accredited multidisciplinary institution, has stepped forward with a compassionate initiative.
The University has announced a 50% Scholarship in Tuition Fee for students from flood and landslide-affected families who wish to pursue UGC regulated non-council programs through its Regular, Online, and Open & Distance Learning (ODL) modes.
This scholarship is not merely a financial aid measure – it reflects DBU’s core belief that education must remain uninterrupted, even in times of adversity.
Expressing his deep concern for those affected, Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, said:
“The recent floods and landslides have shaken the lives of countless families, leaving behind not only damage to homes and livelihoods but also uncertainty for the younger generation. At DBU, we firmly believe that education is the foundation of hope and the strongest tool for rebuilding futures. Through this scholarship, we extend our heartfelt solidarity with students and parents—reassuring them that financial hardship will not block their path to higher education. In this time of pain and recovery, we stand with every affected family as a partner in their journey towards resilience and renewal.”
Desh Bhagat University has stood committed to its mission of education, empowerment, and social responsibility. This initiative is yet another step in the University’s legacy of serving the community in times of crisis.
The floods and landslides have caused unimaginable distress, but DBU believes that investing in the education of today’s youth is the best way to secure tomorrow’s strength. By offering this scholarship, DBU aims to ensure that no deserving student has to give up on their dreams due to circumstances beyond their control.
