DC Kapurthala orders to ensure 20 % use of paddy straw as fuel in brick kilns

With an aim to reduce the pollution by properly managing the paddy straw , Deputy commissioner captain karnail Singh today asked the officials to ensure the use of 20 % paddy straw as fuel in kilns as per the guidelines of Punjab government.

Today chairing the meeting with ADC (G) Amarpreet kaur and SDMs besides officials of various departments, Deputy commissioner instruct Distt. Food Supply and Controller department that the kilns operating in the district should be checked regularly regarding usage of 20% paddy stubble based pallets as fuel and also check whether the said kilns are using pallets as fuel .

If the kiln are not using the pallets as fuel then encourage and tell them the benefits of pallets usage as fuel, he added.

Deputy Commissioner also said that by inviting maximum number of farmers for the subsidy scheme related to agricultural machinery by the Punjab government, farmers can submit their application till 20 July 2023 on the online portal to make the machines available on subsidy.

He also instructed the officials of the agriculture department that no eligible farmer should be deprived of the subsidy and in this regard, guidance should be provided to the farmers in applying.

Among the subsidized machines are Paddy Transplanters, DSR. Drill, Potato Planter (Automatic/Semi Automatic), Tractor Operated Boom Sprayer, P.T.O. Farmers can apply for subsidy as per the available list of machines on the portal including operated bund former, oil mill, mini processing plant, nursery seeder.

Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Balbir Chand said that farmers can directly contact the block level officials of the department for any kind of advice.
