Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal (70), who has been on a hunger strike for 23 days at Khanauri border, is at risk of multiple organ failure. Dallewal is already a cancer patient.
His blood pressure is also falling due to the hunger strike, which can lead to a heart attack.
The team of government doctors who are looking after him is recommending that he be admitted to the hospital. But Dallewal has refused to end his fast until the demands related to the farmers are met. Two teams of doctors have been deployed to monitor the health of Dallewal, who is on a fast unto death at Khanauri border.
One team is of government doctors from Patiala. The other team has been appointed by the farmers. Government doctors were allowed to look after him only when their report matched with the report of the doctors called by the farmers.
