CM Mann writes to PM Modi, objects direction issued to BBMB by GoI on drawing water

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi raising objections to the fresh directions issued to the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) by the Government of India.

As per government direction, the Himachal Pradesh government will no longer have to obtain NoC for drawing water for various schemes from BBMB reservoirs.

Notably, Supreme Court recently earmarked 7.1 percent share in the BBMB projects to Himachal, it also gave the state a right on water from the reservoirs.

Mann stated that sharing of the water is an inter-state dispute and no unilateral directions can be issued to share the waters by the state.
