Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann clarified on the amendment of Sikh Gurdwara Act 1925. Addressing the press following Cabinet meeting, CM Mann the amendment will give rights to channels including the ones who are already streaming to right to telecast Gurbani.

He added that under the proposed amendment, there will be no advertisement half an hour before and after the Gurbani telecast.

Mann also hit back at opposition who criticized AAP government’s decision.

“Why are they hell-bent in favour of giving the telecast rights to only one channel? They have made Sikhi commercial. We have taken legal opinion on the decision. Our aim is to expand the reach of Gurbani Telecast. People’s feelings are attached to Gurbani. It is also written in Gurbani that the teachings of the Gurus should be propagated,” he added.

Mann added that the agreement with the private channel is ending in July 2023.
