The Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee’s ongoing signature campaign titled “Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod” has gained remarkable momentum across the city, with enthusiastic participation from citizens expressing their discontent with the Modi-led BJP government for undermining democratic values and manipulating electoral processes.
As part of this campaign, the Minority Department of the Chandigarh Congress organized a program to hand over the signatures of 5,500 citizens to H.S. Lucky, President of the Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee. The event was held in the presence of Asif Chaudhary, Chairman of the Minority Department, along with prominent leaders including Mohd. Sadiq, Ache lal gour, Zahid Parvez Khan, Mukesh Kumar, Dr. Irshad Hassan, Mohd. Suleman , Hazi Yunus , Ishtiaq , kasim , Sandeep Gujjar, and several other senior Congress workers and office-bearers.
So far, the Congress Party has collected over 50,000 signatures from residents of Chandigarh, and the target of 1,00,000 signatures will be achieved in the coming days as the campaign continues to gain strong public support across all sectors of the city.
Speaking on the occasion, H.S. Lucky, President of the Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee, said:
“This overwhelming response to our ‘Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod’ campaign reflects the anger and frustration of the people against the BJP’s systematic assault on democracy. The citizens of Chandigarh and the entire nation are aware of how the ruling party has manipulated institutions, suppressed the voice of the opposition, and weakened the very foundation of free and fair elections. The Congress Party stands firmly with the people in this fight to restore the sanctity of the ballot and the spirit of the Constitution. Every signature we have received is a symbol of people’s resistance and a call for justice.”
He further added that the Congress party will continue to reach every corner of the city, engaging with citizens and raising awareness about the BJP government’s failures, including rising unemployment, inflation, and institutional misuse.
Asif Chaudhary, Chairman of the Minority Department, also emphasized that the large number of signatures collected shows that the citizens have lost faith in the BJP’s false promises and divisive politics.
The program concluded with a reaffirmation of the Congress Party’s commitment to safeguard democratic institutions and uphold the voice of the common people.
