The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that the BJP has no moral ground to question the Punjab government over the VAT increase on petrol and diesel because BJP’s central government is withholding Punjab’s Rural Development Fund (RDF), National Health Mission fund and GST share which is effecting state’s economy badly.

In a statement issued from the party office on Monday, AAP Punjab chief spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang said that before raising any questions to the Punjab government first BJP should answer why they are discriminating against Punjab. Why the Modi Government is trying to financially weaken the state.

Kang questioned the BJP that when Narendra Modi was elected as PM in 2014, the crude oil prices in the international market were very high. Today they are halved but the petrol and diesel prices in India have doubled over the years. Can BJP explain the mathematics behind the increased prices in India.

Kang said that all the leaders of Punjab should be questioning the BJP about the Rural Development Fund, National Health Mission fund and Punjab’s GST ahare, all the money that belongs to Punjab and should be used for the development of the state, but central government is not releasing these funds. But, unfortunately, leaders like Sukhbir Singh Badal are appearing in support of the BJP.

Kang added that petrol and diesel are cheaper in Punjab than Haryana and Madhya Pradesh, both states ruled by the BJP and Rajasthan where they have the Congress government. He concluded that AAP’s Punjab government is working diligently for the welfare of the state and our agenda is to give the best facilities to the people of Punjab.
