In a major development Bhagwant Mann government has cleared Rs. 20200 crore subsidy bill of PSPCL for financial year 2022-23.
This is first time in history of PSPCL that the government has cleared its full bill for a financial year. Apart from paying its bill of Rs. 20200 crore, Government has also paid Rs. 1804 crore from pending Rs. 9020 crore of previous governments. Rs. 7216 crore is pending in this case and government will pay Rs. 1804 crore per year in four installments to PSPCL. This development has been confirmed by PSPCL CMD Er. Baldev Singh Sran.
Pending subsidy has always been a political issue in the state and AAP government was facing criticism from opposition parties for not paying subsidy in lieu of 300 units free power to people.
