Punjab Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian today continued his ground visits to flood-affected areas of Fazilka district for the third consecutive day. During his tour, he visited villages Sabuana and Bandiwala, where he interacted with local residents and inspected the breach in the drain.

The Agriculture Minister assured the people that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government will provide due compensation to all those who have suffered losses. He directed officials of the Drainage Department to urgently repair the breaches in the Aaspal Drain and Abul Khurana Drain to stop further spread of water into new areas.

Clarifying the cause of the damage, the Minister said that the flooding in the area was not due to the Sutlej river but occurred because of breaches in the drain. He added that the government will carry out special girdawari (crop damage assessment) to ensure adequate relief for all affected farmers.

He further stated that the State Government is continuously distributing relief material in the flood-hit areas, and instructions have been issued to all district administrations to ensure timely assistance without any negligence.

On this occasion, SDM Virpal Kaur, Chief Agriculture Officer Rajinder Kumar, Deputy Director Animal Husbandry Dr. Mandeep Singh, and local leader Karamjit Singh Bandiwala were also present.
