Deputy Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha Jai Krishan Singh Rouri interacted with teachers, students and parents in four government schools under ‘Punjab Sikhia Kranti’ campaign launched on Monday.
Inaugurating slew of projects in government schools, Jai Krishan Singh Rouri said that education sector is one of the foremost priorities area for the state government, which has done a complete overhauling of government schools.
He said that the works worth Rs 81.36 lakh were inaugurated today in four schools of Garhshankar constituency, which will provide improve basic facilities in these schools, thus providing better infrastructure to the students.
Inaugurating various completed works at Government Senior Secondary Smart School Birampur, Government High School Birampur, Government Elementary School Hajipur, Government Primary School Rampur, Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rouri said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, major strides have been made in the field of education in Punjab, which mainly include strengthening basic skills among students, timely change in teaching methods, mega parent-teacher meetings, training of principals, headmasters and teachers of the education department abroad. He said that with the aim of providing quality education and state-of-the- art facilities, the state government had established the Schools of Eminence and Schools of Brilliance, converted 425 primary schools into Schools of Happiness and modernised the infrastructure in schools across the state.
Rouri, while inaugurating the works at the Government Senior Secondary Smart School Birampur at a cost of Rs 51.97 lakh and at the Government High School Birampur at a cost of Rs 4.88 lakh, said that Birampur School is an example in the area in terms of infrastructure and is playing an important role in providing quality education to the students. Inaugurating the classrooms built at a cost of Rs 7.51 lakh at the Government Elementary School Hajipur, the Deputy Speaker said that there will be no shortage of facilities in the government schools. Inaugurating the works at the Government Primary School Rampur at a cost of Rs 17 lakh, the Deputy Speaker appealed to the people that free and quality education are being provided in the government schools, so that maximum students avail such facilities
District Education Officer Lalita Arora along with other personalities were also present on this occasion.
