Punjab Cooperative Dept. introduces digital attendance system to improve public service delivery

In a significant step to enhance the efficiency of workforce for better public service delivery, the Punjab Government has introduced the use of the mSewa app for marking attendance in all offices – at headquarters and field – of the Offices of the Registrar and the Apex Cooperative Institutions.

Disclosing this here today, the Registrar Cooperative Societies, Punjab Girish Dayalan, informed that this initiative aims to monitor staff punctuality, prevent irregularities and optimise resource allocation for effective governance as mandated by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government.

He further stated that, this trial run of marking online attendance on mSewa app, will be conducted for a period of one month starting from August 1, 2025. During this trial phase, participation will be mandatory to ensure a smooth onboarding process. Following the successful onboarding and trial run, the attendance system will be enforced from September 1, 2025.

The Department of Good Governance and Information Technology will provide necessary cooperation and support in implementing this initiative, Mr. Dayalan said while adding that by leveraging technology to track attendance, the Government of Punjab is committed to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of its workforce, ultimately leading to better public service delivery.
