Punjab has become the first state in the country to resolve the problems of NRI Punjabis through online medium. Now any NRI Punjabi can register a complaint online regarding any matter related to the state of Punjab. This new facility has been started in December 2024. After assuming power, the Punjab Government has made continuous efforts to ensure quick and concrete resolution of the problems and grievances of NRI Punjabis.
The Punjab Government resolved the problems of NRI Punjabis on priority basis during the year 2024. As per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, four “NRI Milni” programs were organized in February 2024, during which a large number of complaints were resolved.
Under the unique facility called “Online NRI Milni” started by the NRI Department of the Punjab Government, Punjabis living in different countries can bring their issues and complaints directly before the departmental minister, senior officers and senior police officers of the NRI wing.
In this online Milni, the minister of the department, senior officers of the NRI Department Punjab and senior police officers of the NRI wing try to resolve the complaints received on the spot.
During this “Online NRI Milni”, organized in the first week of every month, most of the complaints are related to the Revenue and Police Departments, while 20 percent of the complaints are already under hearing in various courts. For those online complaints which are related to the districts, instructions are given to the civil and police officers of the concerned district through telephonically.
Cabinet Minister for NRI Affairs Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that the Punjab Government has directed the Deputy Commissioners and SSPs of all districts to resolve the complaints of overseas Punjabis on priority basis. At the district level, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioners, various complaints are being resolved with the help of the concerned departments.
