Chandigarh, June 27

PSEB Engineers’ Association has written to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, pointing out alleging ‘ad-hocism’ in power sector appointments.

“The selection process to fill up the post of Director Generation PSPCL and Director F&C PSTCL was started after your intervention. The power department has failed to complete the selection process and has again reverted to offering temporary extensions to Directors in PSPCL and PSTCL. Additionally, crucial positions such as Member Power BBMB, a Punjab cadre post in BBMB, Member Technical PSERC, Director HR PSPCL and CMD PSTCL have been lying vacant for a long.

Furthermore, the vital post of Chief Electrical Inspector has been lying vacant. Such ad-hoc decisions by the Power Department are not only hindering decision-making on these important posts but also creating uncertainty in the power sector, thereby affecting the efficiency of both corporations,” wrote PSEB Engineers’ Association.

“The association seeks your intervention and requests that the power department be directed to fill-up these key positions in PSPCL, PSTCL, PSERC and CEI, on priority. Additionally, the issue of appointing a Member Power BBMB should be taken up with the Union Government. Further delay in filling these key positions will be detrimental to the health and efficiency of the Punjab Power Sector,” the letter added.
