Police solves Phagwara bank robbery recovers 28 lakh with the arrest of two more robbers in Punjab

Kapurthala police today solved the Phagwara bank robbery of rs 38 lakh with the recovery of cash of rs 28 lakh with the arrest of two more robbers, two pistols and one Innova car.

Senior Superientendent of police Gaurav Toora addressing a press conference here today disclosed that three armed masked robbers had looted a cash of rupees more than 38 lakh from HDFC branch at Rehana Jattan in Phagwara on May 30.

The police party chased the robbers 150 kilometre but in vain.

Police identified the arrested robbers as Navjot Singh and Zorawar singh and one robber Gurminder Singh of Kartarpur had already been arrested on June 8 with the recovery of cash of 13.10 lakh and had recovered one pistol used in crime .Gurminder Singh is in police custody.

SSP said the two accused have been arrested from Mathura in UP.

SSP said they had bought a new Innova car on loan.He said the motive behind the robbery was to pay a bank loan of rupees 4 lakh of accused Gurminder Singh.

Police said accused Zorawar Singh was involved in four criminal cases.

SSP said the total recovery of cash was 28 lakh and the remaining looted cash of over lakh was spent by them in purchasing costly mobile phones etc.
