Kapurthala police today solved the mystery behind the kidnapping and blind murder of an advocate and his woman friend with the arrest of hardened criminal Harvinder pal and his five accomplices .
Addressing a press conference here today Senior Superintendent of police Gaurav Toora disclosed that on the night of April19and 20 both the deceased identified as advocate Sanjiv Kumar and his friend Anju pal who were living together in a flat in a colony at Phagwara were kidnapped at gun point and were taken to a deserted place near Ludhiana in a car .They were strangulated to death with the help of his two more accomplices.
Narrating the details , SSP said hardened criminal Harvinder Singh alias pinder was on parole in a life imprisonment of a murder case of DSP Balraj Singh and his friend in 2012.The accused was married to Anjupal in 2019 and used to meet his wife during parole and shared the money which he earned from drug racket running from different jails in Punjab. The deceased Anjupal often helped his husband in getting parole and bails in other ten criminal cases registered against him.
The accused got annoyed with his wife when she stopped helping her husband and started living with her advocate friend.
The accused hatched a conspiracy with one of his co- accused Manjot Singh and one more accomplice to murder the duo and committed this murder with the logistic support of his three more friends.
After strangulation, the accused buried the bodies some where in a deserted field near ladowal in Ludhiana which the police recovered from the fields.
Police arrested six accused in this double murder case and police parties have been despatched to arrest the seventh accused.
Police arrested the main accused from the kutch in Gujrat.
