Police Commissionerate intensify drive against eve-teasing

In a proactive move to enhance safety around educational institutions, main markets, the Ludhiana Commissionerate Police on Tuesday initiated a targeted campaign to curb eve-teasing.

Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma personally supervised a special checkpoint operation outside Khalsa College for Women, stated that the operation involved 12 police teams, led by four Additional Deputy Commissioners of Police and other senior officers, strategically stationed at key locations across the city, including schools, colleges and major market areas. During the campaign, the teams conducted thorough vehicle checks, issuing 118 challans and seizing 12 vehicles.

Commissioner Sharma emphasized that the initiative aims to ensure a safe environment for students and the public, particularly young people attending schools and colleges. He noted that the police presence at checkpoints serves as both a deterrent to potential offenders and a confidence-building measure for the community.

Sharma further announced that such enforcement drives will be intensified in the coming days to ensure strict action against miscreants and to maintain law and order in Ludhiana.
