On National Sports Day, Torch relay of Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan – 2025 held successfully in Ludhiana

The Torch Relay of Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan – 2025 was conducted successfully in Ludhiana on Friday with great enthusiasm, coinciding with the celebration of National Sports Day.

The relay commenced at 9:00 AM from the Ludhiana–Moga border and passed through Aarti Chowk, Ghumar Mandi Chowk, Khalsa College for Women, Fountain Chowk, and SBI Bank before concluding at Guru Nanak Stadium at 11:15 AM.

At the stadium, dignitaries, officials, athletes, and participants celebrated National Sports Day in honour of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. A sports pledge was administered to promote fitness, discipline, and the true spirit of sportsmanship. To mark the occasion, show matches of Gymnastics and Gatka were also presented, showcasing the rich sporting talent and traditional martial arts of Punjab.

The programme was graced by the presence of  General Secretary, Punjab Basketball Association Teja Singh Dhaliwal, Dronacharya Awardee, Sukhdev Singh Pannu, Prem Singh from Punjab Athletic Association and Sardar Rajinder Singh, Retired HOD, Khalsa College, Ludhiana whose presence and words of encouragement inspired the gathering.

The event also witnessed active participation and support from the Sports Department officials, nursery coaches, and the District Sports Officer Kuldeep Chugh who motivated the youth to embrace sports as a way of life. The relay and celebrations witnessed enthusiastic participation from athletes, students, and citizens across the district.

The District Sports Officer expressed gratitude to all participants and supporting agencies for ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the event.
