On the eve of the festival of lights – Diwali, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan and his wife Gurpreet Kaur Sandhwan paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Punjab Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria. Speaker Sandhwan and Gurpreet Kaur were warmly welcomed by Kataria and Anita Kataria at the Governor’s House.
During the conversation, Speaker Sandhwan said that although the auspicious day of Diwali is celebrated warmly by people of all religions as it is a common festival, for the last few years there has been an awareness among people about celebrating a pollution-free Diwali, due to which people are using green crackers. The trend of planting saplings, maintaining them and celebrating a pollution-free Green Diwali has increased.
Speaker Sandhwan said that the Punjab Government has also appealed to the students and employees of various departments to celebrate a pollution-free Diwali through the heads of schools, colleges and other government institutions.
Governor Gulab Chand Kataria while appreciating the above thought of Speaker Sandhwan said that strict measures are also being taken by NGT and Pollution Control Board to prevent pollution.
