One gangster was injured in an encounter with the police in Sultanpurlodhi area here today according to Police.
The injured gangster identified as Balwinder Singh involved in murder and firing case at police party at Kartarpur in May this year was signalled to stop at police Naka in Sultanpurlodhi but he tried to fled away after firing at police party with an illegal weapon .The police party which had a providential escape fired in self defence and one of bullet hit his leg and policemen over powered and arrested him .He was rushed to civil hospital for treatment and is stated to be out of danger said police.
Narrating the details of incident Senior Superientendent of police Gaurav Toora disclosed that gangster was wanted by police in more than six criminal cases including murder, firing on the police party.
Apart from killing a youth in the month of February this year he was involved in a firing case at police party at Kartarpur in the month of May.
An illegal pistol has been recovered from the accused.
