The District Administration is set to organise ‘Nature Fest’ from February 21 to 25 at local Lajwanti Sports Stadium to showcase the rich natural heritage of Hoshiarpur along with holding different activities related to nature, environment and culture during this five day long event.
Assigning duties to officials concerned here today in a meeting, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal directed officials to get the requisite preparations started so as to accomplish the same well within the time. She said that this event would depict significance of natural resources in the district besides providing a platform for the self-help groups, progressive farmers, tourism, cultural groups, industrial and handicraft to exhibit their products. She said that the Lajwanti Sports Stadium would have stalls of different products, where people could not only get the information but also buy the same.
Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said that the administration is getting the tender notice uploaded on NIC website hoshiarpur.nic.in shortly so that next course of action could be finalised. She pointed out that students of schools and colleges would also give performances on Punjab’s culture & folk dance during the fest. She said that the Nature Fest is aimed to furthe highlight the places of tourism in the district by disseminating information in this regard, where cultural activities, exhibitions, farmers market, kite flying, hot air balloon, off-roading, camping in forest areas, trekking, jungle safari, stay in eco huts at Thana dam and nature walk would remain the centre of attractions for geneal public. Additional Deputy Commissioners Nikas Kumar, Rahul Chaba and other senior officers of various departments were also present in the meeting.
