The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted rapidly deteriorating weather across several parts of the country over the next 12 to 24 hours. January 27 will be particularly challenging for northern India.
Alerts in 13 States: Risk of rain and storms in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and others.
Strong Winds: Gusts up to 50-60 km/h expected in many areas.
Temperature Drop: Heavy rain and cold wave will cause a sharp decline in temperatures, intensifying the chill.
Delhi and Uttar Pradesh: Light to moderate rain in Delhi with winds at 40 km/h. Heavy rain and cold wave alerts for Lucknow, Kanpur, Meerut, and Agra in UP.
Hill States: Temperatures in Jammu-Kashmir (Srinagar) and Himachal (Manali) could drop to -8°C. Heavy rain and storms may disrupt life.
Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh: Moderate to heavy rain expected in Jaipur, Bikaner, Bhopal, and Sagar.
Bihar: Farmers advised to take special precautions as strong winds and rain could damage crops.
Relief seems unlikely on January 28. Thunderstorms with rain may continue in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and parts of Maharashtra.
With worsening weather and rising cold, children and elderly are advised to exercise extra caution when stepping out.
