The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday released a list of 6 Lok Sabha candidates for Punjab.
The latest entrant to BJP and former Congress and incumbent Congress MP and wife of former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh Preneet Kaur has been fielded from Patiala. A four-time MP and a former Union minister, Kaur joined the saffron party in the presence of senior leaders at the BJP headquarters earlier this month.
Ravneet Singh Bittu, three-time Congress MP and grandson of former Punjab CM Beant Singh, will contest from Ludhiana. He also switched to BJP just before the Lok Sabha elections. Former lone AAP Lok Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Rinku too switched to BJP and has been fielded from Jalandhar. Ex BJP MLA Dinesh Singh ‘Babbu’ will contest from Gurdaspur, former US diplomat Taranjit Singh Sandhu from Amritsar and famous singer Hans Raj Hans from Faridkot. BJP has made a great political move by not just inducting but even fielding incumbent MP’s and winnable candidates of Congress and AAP. Hans who was a BJP MP from Delhi has been chosen by the saffron party for Punjab as the party is banking on his immense fan following in the state.
